Consider the following when conducting your theme write-ups:
- What diction and tone does the author use when addressing your universal subject? Consider the judgments the narrator makes on your universal subject and a basic opinion the author has on your universal subject.
- Characters and their views on your universal subject: How do these characters change (opinions and otherwise) throughout the novel? Are they considered protagonists or antagonists and how does this reflect their view of your universal subject?
- What symbols are used to represent your universal theme? How does that influence or demonstrate the author's opinions on this topic?
